Happy Thanksgiving

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever."

Psalm 107:1

Our family has experienced great joy and great loss this year. We celebrated with our son's wedding and also mourned the loss of our daughter-in-law's mom. You may have also experienced the whole gamut of emotions with the events from the past year.

I Thessalonians 5:18 says, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." How can we genuinely thank God in the midst of our difficulties? The scripture above, Psalm 107:1, gives us a clue. We are able to give God thanks because He is good and because His love endures forever.

God is good all the time. No matter how hard the situation is that we are walking through, His goodness never changes. And I'm grateful that His love for me never shifts, no matter what my response is. When I have doubt or struggle with sin and a lack of trust in Him, God still loves me. And He still loves you.

This Thanksgiving, reflect on the ways God has shown you His love and goodness over this past year and then take the time to give Him thanks.

"...always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Ephesians 5:20

Relevant Reflection:

Describe how you've seen God's goodness and His love for you. Spend time thanking Him.
