“God has made some bold predictions about you – they’re called promises. And you can take them to the bank. Why? Because the One who made those promises always delivers. The resurrection is the down payment on every promise.” Mark Batterson
Years ago there was a national men’s movement called Promise Keepers. Among the seven promises they held, men were encouraged to be faithful to God and to their wives. God is the ultimate Promise Keeper. I Kings 8:20a says, “The Lord has kept the promise He made.” In today’s culture there are few absolutes; everything seems to be relative. But the Bible, possessing total power and authority, says that God unequivocally keeps His promises. What the Lord says, He will do. God pledges to fulfill all the promises in the Bible. In Joshua’s farewell speech, he encouraged the Israelites with these words. “Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” (Joshua 23:14) Wow. God has a great track record that can’t be beat. He is the true Promise Keeper. It’s easy to become stressed in life’s busyness and get sidetracked from the truth. When that happens discouragement can set in with despair running close behind. In order to keep our hearts full of faith and hope, we need to remind ourselves of God’s promises. Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.” Isaiah 40:29 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all…” Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” II Corinthians 3:18 “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever increasing glory…” John 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.”
“God is the God of promise. He keeps His word, even when that seems impossible; even when the circumstances seem to point to the opposite.”
