Best Case Scenario

“Trusting means drawing on the inexhaustible resources of God.” Anonymous

I want to thank my friends who have come alongside of my family during this time of cancer. Your kindness expressed through prayers, encouraging words, cards, flowers, and meals have meant more than you know. Our family has seen the face of Jesus and felt His love for us through you. Instead of experiencing isolation from wearing the label of cancer, my family experienced community as the Body of Christ rallied around us.

My hysterectomy went smoothly and more quickly than the doctor had estimated. Relief flooded my heart when the doctor called with the pathology report and shared the best case scenario. The cancer was non invasive, tumor only 7mm, stage 1a-the earliest possible stage, and there is no need for chemotherapy or radiation. It’s a done deal.

My heart is full of gratitude for the great report, but what has humbled and filled me with thanksgiving the most, was how my heavenly Daddy held my hand every step of the way. Over and over again He’s given me a heads up on how this would play out.

An hour before we saw the first doctor, God prepared my heart for a report of cancer and I told the physician the outcome before she told me. The recent path report did not surprise me because again my Abba Father whispered the results to my heart the day before I received them. Along this journey God has made other promises, which I’m holding in my hands waiting for their fulfillment.

What really surprised me was what meant the most to the Lord. This is what I heard my Daddy say last Friday. “You’re a good listener my daughter, and you kept your hand firmly clasped in mine. Most of all, I loved how you trusted Me and believed what I told you. You have grown in your level of trust with Me; what I say, you believe and rest in that truth. It’s like what I whisper in your heart becomes the authority in your life and this gives Me great pleasure. Thank you for submitting to this season and for trusting that your Daddy knows best.”

God’s best case scenario is when we trust Him. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) No matter what curve ball in life is thrown our way, realize our heavenly Father knows best and He alone is worthy of our trust.

“The more we depend on God, the more dependable we find He is.” Sir Cliff Richard

Relevant Reflections: 1. Describe a time when the results didn’t surprise you because God gave you a heads up. 2. In what current situation can you give God the best case scenario as you trust Him?
